Gareth Mewes, Andre Bonetti, Reuben Johson 11.20am - Zumpa Lizzie Flynn writes songs that blend a little satirical storytelling with a lot of joyful emotion. She has been a vocalist and songwriter for a variety of bands and theatrical productions, and has performed at music festivals throughout Australia, including The Planting (Woodford 2018), Maleny Music Festival (2018), Fairbridge Festival (2019) Tablelands Folk Festival (2018) and Illawarra Folk Festival (2019, 2020). Zumpa takes you on a musical journey to forgotten Italian fishing villages, moonlit olive groves and a hard life under a hot sun where peasants play music to celebrate life with a fierce sense of humour. While still attending Brisbane State High, Ella Macrokanis has already won professional supporting screen acting roles, most recently in the SBS mini drama series, Safe Harbour, alongside Phoebe Tonkin and Ewen Leslie. For Ella, who was taught music by Lizzie as a twelve-year-old student at West End State Primary school, ‘Ms Flynn’ provided the inspiration and encouragement to take an artistic career seriously, so there is a truthful connection between the two in this production.
